Course Details
Optional 24 CreditsPurpose:
Students will investigate the making of Art works; recognise the relationship between art, artist and context, research and respond to art works; explore the social contexts of art works and how people respond to them ; to identify and analyse art work in the context of art movements. Students will examine in detail two areas of study; the Early Renaissance where candidates will discuss formal elements and characteristics of the following styles: Italo-Byzantine, International Gothic, Sienese, Florentine, Classicism, Naturalism and Renaissance, and Modernism to Post Modernism where candidates will discuss formal elements and characteristics of the following styles; Realism, Abstraction, Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, Neo Dada, and Pop Art. Students will have the opportunity to present their work in the following manner, - oral presentations - written paragraphs - written or recorded interview - annotated charts, drawings or posters digital presentations.Entry Requirements:
