In the challenging conditions of a six-day tournament at Florence SportsPlex, Alabama, USA, facing heats of 35-45° Taylah Waitokia Whanganui High School (Year 10) played a significant role in helping the Australia Babe Ruth League 14U team achieve a silver medal.
Waitokia demonstrated a strong performance on the mound, pitching a total of 16 innings. She threw 275 pitches, allowed 16 hits, and recorded 30 strikeouts. In a notable game against East End Mishawaka Babe Ruth League 14U, she struck out 11 batters, gave up four hits and one run over five innings, and walked two. claiming MVP Additionally, she contributed three innings in relief, giving up three hits and two runs (one earned) while adding three more strikeouts.
Defensively, Waitokia managed 16 chances, with three assists and 11 outs, including a few double plays, which helped solidify her team’s defence.
Offensively, she also made valuable contributions. With 14 plate appearances, she earned six safe hits, assisting her team in scoring runs.
Taylah played a good balanced performance in pitching, fielding, and batting , her team overall Placed second in the Diamond cup.
