STRENGTHENING EDUCATION CONNECTIONS BETWEEN CAMBODIA AND NEW ZEALAND

We were pleased to be part of a New Zealand education delegation welcomed by Dr Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, in Phnom Penh yesterday.

The meeting highlighted the growing education relationship between Cambodia and New Zealand, with discussion around opportunities for:

🌏 Student and education exchanges

🎓 Scholarships and study pathways

🤝 Partnerships between Cambodian and New Zealand schools

👩‍🏫 Teacher professional development and capacity building

🔎 Research and wider educational collaboration

Representatives from 17 New Zealand secondary schools and five universities were part of the delegation, reflecting the strong interest in developing meaningful education partnerships with Cambodia.

An important outcome of the meeting was discussion of a future Memorandum of Understanding to further strengthen education cooperation between the two countries and create more opportunities for students and educators.

At Whanganui High School, we are proud to be part of this growing connection between Cambodia and New Zealand. We look forward to building relationships with Cambodian schools, welcoming more Cambodian students to Whanganui, and creating opportunities for young people to experience the many benefits of international education.
