All Stars place secured - January 2016

 

IN THE ZONE: Whanganui swimmer Elena Forlong has gained selection to the All Stars lower North Island zone team after excellent performances at the Wellington Regionals at the weekend.

WHANGANUI swimmers had a sensational time at the Wellington Regional Long Course Championships at the weekend winning medals, qualifying for upcoming national age groups meets and posting personal best times in the pool.

To top it off Wanganui Swim Club members Elena Forlong (WHS student) and Shannon Schimanski have been selected for the All Stars (lower North Island) zonal swim team to compete against Harlequins (Northern), Aqua Knights (Central North Island) and Makos (South Island) on February 13 in Auckland.

Elena, racing in the 16-17 year age group, claimed gold in the 200m butterfly and silver in the 800m freestyle.

Amelia Cronin-Townsend (13) - 5th 50 free, 6th 100 free 8th 200 free, 9th 50 back.
Alexandra Forlong (14) - 4th 200 Fly, 9th 400IM and 800 Free.
Grace Hogan  (former WHS student - 15) 7th 200 Back, 9th 50 Back.
Niamh Hogan (15) 6th 200 Back, 8th 50 back.
