Big night for WHS sports stars

Kahurangi Sturmey and Blair Osborne are the Sports Dux for Whanganui High School in 2016.
Thursday night saw Whanganui High School celebrate the talents of their large body of student athletes at the Sports Awards, which were held at the Wanganui racecourse Eulogy Lounge.
There was a turnout of nearly 300 students, parents, coaches, managers and staff.
"The night was jam-packed with celebrating the successes of our young sportsmen and sportswomen within our school," said spokeswoman Lisa Murphy.
2016 Sports Awards Year 13
Dux Ludorum for the girls went to netballer Kahurangi Sturmey.
Dux Ludorum for the boys went to rugby's Blair Osborne.
The Principals Cup for Most Outstanding Sporting Performance was jointly awarded to:
Jessica Watkin (NZ Under 18 indoor cricket Team and the White Ferns High Performance squad) and
Emma Rainey (NZ Under 19 hockey team).
Cup for Outstanding Leadership in Sport - Kahurangi Sturmey
Cup for Service to Sport - Trey Willis-Croft
Cup for Sportsmanship in Sport - Tom Adkins
The Team Award was jointly awarded to:
The National Champions of the Mixed Touch team and the
Boys Under 18 Lightweight Double Sculls rowers.
WHS also had 17 students that represented NZ in various sports.
