Cross Country: Wainhouse rules in Taupo

There were prizes aplenty for the Wainhouse family at the Cebris 4 Hour and Motomuck Junior 90 cross country endurance racing in the hills above Taupo on Saturday.
Around 450 riders, including 28 Whanganui locals, entered the events, with the 4 Hour being one of the biggest cross country races in the North Island.
Riki Wainhouse won the 12-14 year division of the Junior 90 race, while father Shayne Wainhouse entered the 4 Hour and came third in the Over 50's class.
The 4 Hour is a real challenge solo, with each lap taking around 45-50 minutes on the 30km course, heading through bush, forest and farmland.
The Wainhouse family compete in a lot of these types of events throughout the year.
Of the other Whanganui riders to do well, both WHS students, Olly Dennison was sixth in the 14-16 junior class, while Blake Rountree was tenth in the same grade.
Troy Bullock came third in the 12-14 junior class.
In the senior racing, former WHS student Seth Reardon finished second in the small bore iron man class.
For the team events, Colin Matthews and Ant Rountree finished eighth in the over 80's (combined age) class.
The Manson' - Seamus and Shaun - were seventh in the small bore class.
