Familiar faces to perform for gallery - May 2015

A local soprano and pianist are teaming up for the latest concert in the Musicians For The Sarjeant series.

Deborah Wai Kapohe, soprano, and former WHS pianist Liam Wooding will perform poetry by the world's favourite composers.

Miss Kapohe is no stranger to Wanganui audiences, having performed widely throughout the city and New Zealand. She is also the arts facilitator for the Wanganui District Council.

Mr Wooding is a popular accompanist, performing at the New Zealand Opera School and others. He made his conducting debut as the musical director for Wanganui High School's production of Annie this year.

Mr Wooding teaches music at Wanganui High School and also coaches chamber music. He was a tutor at the Lewis Eady Music School and has worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Auckland.

This is part of a series of performances under the banner of Musicians for the Sarjeant, a fundraising group for the gallery's redevelopment project.

The concert will be held at 4.30pm, May 31, at Sarjeant On The Quay. Tickets can be purchased from the Sarjeant, gallery members $7.50, non-members $10.
