Rountree leads Whanganui Jnr Motocross riders at Nationals

Whanganui teenager James Rountree (WHS student) has claimed fifth in his class at the New Zealand Junior Motocross Championships in New Plymouth at the weekend.

James Rountree achieved a fifth placing in the 12 to 14 age group, 125cc class at the NZ Junior Motocross Nationals held in New Plymouth last weekend. Riding a YZ125, 14 year old James, who started motocross only three years ago, finished 5, 6, 7, 3 and 7th out of five races over the two days to take out 5th place overall. The track was very technical and got very rough and demanding on the last day. James had previously won a top five placing at Woodville plus a third placing at the Taranaki Secondary School champs last month.

Other Wanganui riders competing were:

Olly Dennison 13th in the 14to 16 years, 250cc class (WHS student)

• Troy Bullock 38th in the 11to 12 years, 85cc class

Jaxon Watt 29th in the 13to 16 years, 85cc class (WHS student)

• Jet Ashworth 21st in the 8 to10 years, 85cc class

• Hunter Gilbertson 36th in the 15 to16 years,125cc class

• Campbell Tylee 24th in the 12 to14 years, 125cc class

• Tyler Edwards 39th in the 11 to12 years, 85cc class

• Tom Gilligan 34th in the 15to16 years, 125cc class

Chase Williamson rode in the 8 to11 years, 65cc support class and finished 4th.
