Teen lands medals on international debut - April 2015

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS: Kasey Watson and his Wanganui Judo Clubmates celebrate the two silver medals and one bronze the 15-year-old won on his international debut.

Wanganui Judo Club teenager Kasey Watson has won two silver and a bronze medal on his international debut at the Oceania Championships in New Caledonia.

Watson competed in the under-81kg finishing third, then fought in the teams event, winning silver in the men's division. He was then selected to fight in the junior men division where the team also claimed silver.

"This is Kasey's first big tournament overseas and to get a bronze and two silver medals is a credit to his training," father and coach Wayne Watson said.

The 15-year-old is now in training for the Auckland International in two months.
