The Peter Donne Cup for Most Outstanding Art Student of the Year
“Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” A quote from Pablo Picasso that the Visual Art Department has adopted this year, epitomises the ethos of this student.
Year after year, this student has been consistent in their work ethic, leading to inspired and quality artworks. They have successfully explored several Visual Art disciplines and their determination and resilience will see them go far in the Visual Art Arena.
The Visual Art Department is proud to award Lily Meade.

This student seems to look through the viewfinder and, time after time, has proven themselves to be a naturally gifted photographer. They have a clear vision for development of their ideas, consistently achieved top results and have independently created a sophisticated series of work over the past two years. 
They demonstrate a high level of creativity, commitment and perseverance in all aspects of photography.
This student is a passionate learner, who challenges themselves to pursue their own excellence.
This is a well-deserved accolade for Meghan Price.


The John Innes Cup for the Most Promising Art Student
The more you create, the more you become the truly unique human-being you are.
This artist is recognised among her peers as being that person. They have given much to Whanganui High School and in turn absorbed all it has to offer. Their eagerness for knowledge, instinctive art sensibility, and intelligent approach to learning defines the essence that they bring to the Visual Arts. It is therefore appropriate to recognize the fact that they are to most promising Art student. 
There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.
The recipient for the John Innes Cup for the most promising Art Student goes to Sophie Wham.


The Kidd Senior Design Cup
A quote from famous designer Milton Glaser…
“There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.”
And this student unequivocally aims for the ‘wow’ in all the work she does. She is a conscientious and hard-working student who has dedicated her time to create stunning work through her Artistic journey at Whanganui High School. 
A journey that will continue in to tertiary education where she is embarking on a Design Degree.
It is with great pleasure we award the ‘Kidd cup for Design’ to Lily Meade.


The Lennard Webby Cup for Visual Arts- Painting
The artist Pablo Picasso on said “Action is the foundational key to all success”.
This student is a talented and highly creative student who has proven themselves to be committed to the discipline of painting.
Through hours of hard-work they have consistently achieved top results in both internal and external assessments.
This student has the ability to work independently and successfully to develop their ideas and concepts into a coherent body of work and has recently completed a successful level 3 portfolio.
They have a unique and sophisticated style of painting which both engages and confronts the viewer. 
This student has a promising future in the field of fine arts and we look forward to seeing their work in the years to come.
This award goes to Ilan Ben-Ezra.
