Five young singers delighted their audience at the Marton Music Society's vocal concert on Sunday, September 24.

"This concert was showcasing only singers from around the area," Marton Music Society committee member Paul Ellery said.

"The performances ranged from Purcell in the Baroque period to contemporary Australian songwriter Peter Allen."

The line-up included Caitlin Comer who performed three songs from her programme for the Nita Oldham Trophy, awarded to the most promising vocalist at the Sonja Wilson Scholarship competition run by the Wanganui branch of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers. She was accompanied by Diana Coleman.

Other performers were Lucy Wilson who is preparing for her ATCL (Associate of Trinity College London) in singing, Rose Sinkinson, Verity Morey-Mackay and Allyssa Pram.

The society's next concert on October 29 will feature ukuleles.
